it was a 'green wing' dvd, a present for my father-in-law. does that count? the cashier was more interested in the dvd player i had bought from another store and had in my trolley with receipt as i didn't want to leave it in my car!

green wing is very cool, it counts

I know this is probably bad but I wouldn't take it back. Their mistake. But then again I'm a really poor student.

I did find a purse once with 85 in it and I handed it in to the police. Turns out it was an old lady's and it was her xmas savings to spend on her grandchildren. See, I'm not all bad :)

I'm not a bad person but i would keep it and say nothing, think of it as an easter tip from them to you as thanx for all your custom, see, isnt that better

Keep it, say nothing, and enjoy!
well as its a gift for some one i would keep that "free" one for my self and then buy another one for the person i was buyin it for.
Not stealing. Possible "Actus Reus" but no "mens" Rea". You made an offer to buy. They decided not to take money from you.
Blimey danny...you sound like my son....your not studying law by any chance....dont worry about it hobson..just remember..."Every Little Helps"..(:-)
Keep it the cashier should watch whats they are doing. Nice result hope the films good.........
keep it and treat youself with money saved

thanks everyone. i am keeping it as it was their mistake and 'mistakes cannot be rectified after leaving the store' as they say. also my husband (who is a policeman) said it made up for all the overcharging they do and make a 2 billion profit a year anyway!

cheers

H, I really wouldnt worry about it. We once went into a supermatket to buy a tv and video, both of which went through the till without being scanned! Best shopping trip we everwent on!
in my eyes you got a bonus its not as if its something personal that would be different. my other halfs uncle lost 3 grand in a brown envelope last week and he reckons that he would have handed it in if it was anyone elses yeah right! someone had a good day laughing all the way to the travel agents!
It`s quite possible that the cashier will have to pay for that out of his/her own pocket. Everyone makes a mistake. And no, I`m not a goody two shes. lol
keep it, not your falut the casheir was in a mood to give freebies today! Also why not shop on dvd.co.uk / play.com / cd wow for much cheaper dvd's

I once got a 90 bifold mirrored door from B & Q for free.

The bar code was on the underside of the door as it was resting on the trolley, the bloke tried to scan it several times, he must have assumed he'd got it, but I walked out casually with 90 off the total price of my shopping!

I never felt the urge to go back. I must be a very bad person!!! :(
