Haden microwave went back to Lidl this morning. I saw a truly lovely manager. I explained the whole saga. I was given the refund without any quibble. Once again thank you for all help in the last few days. I really appreciated your help/advice

Strangely, I had this email from Lidl come in this afternooon, several hours after I had my refund. It looks like the customer service team need retraining as it said this...
Any non-food product can be returned within 30 days in its original packaging, accompanied by the original purchase receipt.
The unsuitable that you have tried to return did not meet this criteria.
I’m sorry, I know this may be disappointing & we hope you continue to be part of the Lidl family.
That is very poor. They are referring to their own policy, not their legal obligations.
This is their policy on faulty items:
"Faulty Returns: You can return faulty non-food items within six months of purchase with proof of purchase (receipt or digital receipt) for a replacement or refund."
Note it doesn't mention original packaging. They are treating your oven as a change of mind, not faulty, not fit for purpose or not as described.
I'm a stubborn old goat and wouldn't leave it there.
