I help run a support group for women with mental health issues.  We would like to raise some money for the group and want to take a table at craft fares in the run up to xmas.

Can anyone suggest how we could make some money? eg by buying something cheap and selling for a profit, or making something to sell which would be esy to make and wouldn't involve having to spend too much money to buy materials?

Thanks.

What are their skills?  Can thye knit, sew (hand or machine), crochet?

I always find that stuff at craft fayres is over priced.

You can get advent calendar material, where you sew on the pockets.

I tell you what sells out at our local Christmas Fayre - Christmas hats for Forrero Rocher. Sell for £2 each.

scale them up for chocolate oranges-sell for £5.

Cakes always sell well too.

Avoid making anything you wouldn't buy yourself!

A couple of the ladies can knit/crochet and they will do a couple of bits to sell, but I'm trying to think of something for the less talented in the group - and I count myself amongst them!

Tuvok - what level of skill is needed the sewing of the advent calendars?

Maydup - cakes are a great idea but we want to start making  things now so that we have enough to sell in Nov/Dec, so nothing with a short shelf life.

Here's one example of the advent calendar

Thanks for the link Tuvok but we wouldn't be able to sell the calendar for more than the £5.99 cost to buy it.

I suggest you don't make craft items to sell. Have a Tombola stall instead.  Ask for donations to put on the stall, that way, it doesn't cost you anything.  (although anything hand-made could be put on the stall too).  5 tickets for a £1.
