Do I Need To Make Changes In My Life Or Does God Do It?

I seem to be waiting decades for God to change my situation around. I have been stuck for years and I pray with communion, fasting, claiming and standing on verses, but still nothing. When I hear preaching, they'll say, "Don't move an inch before asking God if it's the right thing to do", and when I do ask God for His 'go ahead' or 'green light', I hear nothing and then another 10 years go by! I'd love to move away, for example, and have been praying and standing on bible verse for this, but 20 years later, I'm still stuck. Also, I have no support if I did move (as I have no family, only my mum whom I live with), so I'm alone. Any ideas, please? I'm actually starting the ball rolling with counselling and about to make a first appointment. Have I got God all wrong? Thanking you in advance.

If you believe in God then, for you, there is a God. If you're able to make changes do so. God would be be happy to see you trying to make positive changes.

Sorry to break the news to you, but there is no god.
I'm afraid that you have to do a certain amount to help yourself. God sometimes needs a little help.

Sounds like "Waiting for Godot"!
Remember Olympic athlete Jonathan Edwards? He refused to compete on Sunday because of his religious beliefs. Eventually he saw the light.
How can you say you're alone. You've got your Mum and your bus stop beau. And I know you hate petty conversations but that tends to be level which strangers talk on (and long married couples)
A stranger is only a friend you haven't 'chatted' to yet.
Hopkirk, @ 13:56;

Sometimes it's better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid rather than open it and remove all doubt.
That makes many more of us stupid or appearing stupid, Khandro.

Still, at least not believing in a god is harmless and doesn't do the damage that believing gives so many the opportunity to do....surely that's a good thing?
The only thing I can see that makes sense to me is, you have the ball rolling regarding getting counselling. Good luck with that!!
"God helps those who help themselves"...so they say. Maybe "God" is waiting for you to do something positive. God isn't going to push you out the door. God isn't going to find your independence for you. And he sure as heck won't find the ideal flat or job for you.
Proof indeed that there is no God. Time to shake off those old beliefs and get on with your own life instead of waiting for some mythical spirit to magic it for you.
God helps those who help themselves. I'd say make the first move, but it sounds as if you are already doing so. Good luck.
You've knocked on a door for 20 years with no answer, it's now safe to assume that there's nobody home.

The great news is that you've obviously realised this and are beginning to take steps by yourself. Time to use Sunday mornings for something that furthers your life goals with a new set of people. Maybe a walking group or a book club. You don't have to make massive changes at once, if you want to move then don't move too far away etc.
