I’m going to a black tie event in a few weeks time and I’m not sure what to wear dress wise. Do you think this would be appropriate or too casual. I’m trying to kill two birds with one stone as I’ve got another event a few weeks after.
I have bought from Lightinthebox once, a dressy full length number, I didn't realise it was a Chinese company. There have been many horror stories of dresses coming from Chinese companies looking nothing like their photo. My dress did turn up fine but it took over 6 weeks and I had to pay import duty to get it out of Heathrow. They are miles cheaper than any UK online seller. I would be wary though.
Sadly I think that dress looks more like a dressing gown Rocky. Traditionally ladies wore long evening gowns to black tie events but over the last few years or so I’ve found that more and more are wearing what I call “cocktail” dresses so don’t feel pressurised. Did you tell us what your other event was? That may help us but RH has come up with some good ideas. As regards Lightbox being Chinese then which UK online shops do you normally use?
//Perfect.......very elegant says Mrs sqad who knowa what she is talking about//
Sqad, RH thinks you are suggesting that she and other posters don't know what they are talking about, unlike Mrs Sqad!
But I'm sure you didn't mean that!
The men dont agonise about this you know
.
The only one I remember ( attended lots) was where all the gels got together and agreed none of them would turn up for another!
( council do)
One ( gel) later turned up in a cardigan she had knitted herself and washed a few times. - you know yeah and knickers etc - and yes I did give 0 for effort and thought. Husband famous researcher
Thank you. And only £40. Bargain. I’ll need something else for the prom as this dress is a bit much, but I could, at a push, drag something out of the wardrobe.
