Here’s the reckoning.

Sale price £30.00
Paypal fee -£1.17
Ebay fee - £3.00
Hermes - £6.00

Next time I’ll put it on Freebooters -less hassle!

It was second hand, you weren’t going to get the full £60 for it - you put sale price indicating that you wanted £30 for it. If we’re being pedantic you should have put ‘winning bid - £30’.

Someone has to pay the postage and the way the OP is written the seller paid the postage.

I know some goods are offered with free p & p but that could be because that cost is included in the purchase price.

Next time, you will add a tenner to your lowest offer and whack the postage on, and come away with something wirthwhile

Allen what I maintain is that if you offer Free P&P you are more likely to get more bidders interested... and the more bidders interested, means you are far more likely to get a better price.

I always offer a free collection option for items where the postage would be over £5, and I usually get someone who lives within say 30 minutes who will buy and pick up.

Yes, I knew about the eBay/Paypal link- which was one of the reasons why I was surprised by the Paypal 'fee' - just another snout in the trough!

After all, their only function in the process was to receive the £30 from the buyer into my account. Worth a fee?
