What Happens If No Deliveries?

Been trying to get an Ocado delivery slot for a week without success.

What happens if we get to ‘the end’ and still no slots?

We’re old, self-isolating, no relations, etc. Do we take a chance and go foraging at local (empty) supermarkets. Used to be workhouses for the likes of us!

Contact your council to see if there are any local groups doing shopping and prescription pick ups etc.
Have you tried the food hampers scheme that one was offering for vulnerable customers
You’ll probably find that your local supermarkets are now fairly well stocked but be prepared to stand in line until they let you in. Supermarkets now have dedicated times for the elderly / vulnerable / NHS, usually between 8-9am.
The supermarkets are well stocked now
Check out if there are any local groups doing this. I help man a group called Dundee Thegither. We're on the phone from 10 am to 10 pm in shifts. We arrange delivery of basics for those who are in need. This is free. Just started offering to shop for folk who can't get out but can afford shopping. We're all PVG checked and adhere to strict hygiene rules for deliveries. We also just chat to folk who feel a bit lonely at this time of isolation. Sure there will be something similar in your area.
NEIGHBOURS>? could yo put a note on yur door? do you have a milkman?
If you can get some potatoes and veg it's amazing how many days soup you can make. We could have various delicious healthy soups for lunch for the next month.
i think the elderly hour is a con - my parents tel me theres queues out the door, but at other times of day there isnt
As Zacks says. Plenty of food available now even milk, bog roll and eggs. (And wife bought back an Avocado though how that is essential is beyond me!)

The supermarkets (well at least the Tesco Extess) are enforcing the distancing and only allowing a few in the shop at a time. They have stuf to clean the baskets. Wife goes up in mask and 'johnny' gloves. Just cough if anyone starts getting close, they will soon backoff.

Thanks, some good ideas there. Oddly, we’re not ‘in need’ in the conventional sense. But right now, money ain’t as important!
There are probably volunteer groups in your local area. Try checking out the local surgery and church websites to see if they are mentioned.
As has been suggested, it's likely tha there's a volunteer group in your area. Try your local council (possibly on their social services number) to get in touch with them.

Our town, with a population of around 5,000, has over 200 volunteers in the local group!
We just have Tesco and Asda

I managed to get a slot for Asda in 12 days time!

Out of curiosity I tried Tesco just after midnight - and they had a queing system to book a slot.

I got my Asda slot the day before going on just after 8am.

I've offered my elderly neighbours a share in my delivery slot.
Which bit of London are you in allen?

NWest, shoota - above Wembley.
depends on what supermarket you are trying - i would go on sainburys as slots do appear if you are old vulnerable...
We're not exactly neighbours Allen, (I'm just south of Heathrow) but if you get seriously stuck I'll do a delivery for you.
Local council will help in supplying someone to do your shopping.
Try click and collect. Morrison’s have started doing it to help ease the demand.

However if you go to the supermarket in the evening they are very quiet and although they don’t have the full range (they don’t in the day either but hay ho) you can pick up most things.
