And if so is there a way round it?

I don't know but you could give a fake phone number.

Why don't you want the seller to have your phone number?

I've been using Paypal for over 16 years and they have never phoned me let alone anyone I've bought from!

I use PayPal to buy goods a lot and have never had a phone call from a seller.

I use PayPal all the time and no seller has ever 'phoned me or sent a text message.

Well, you say they don’t, but that doesn’t explain Mrs B’s experience yesterday when she got a receipt stating her address (fine) and our phone number!

I use Paypal all the time and wasn't aware they had my phone number. If they do, they certainly haven't phoned me - neither has anyone I have bought from.

Whenever a site insists on a telephone number I give 00000000000, or if this is rejected I then give the site's own number. The latter always gets accepted IME.

I’ve never ever seen my phone n7mber on anything and I use PayPal regularly.

I’ve changed my listed phone on Paypal from my home no. to an old unused mobile - they send a text so it can’t be a fake!

I have got more paypal receipts than I care to admit to and not one has my phone number on.

Woofgang: well, that is odd then, as Mrs B's has our number, loud and clear.
