The best thing really is to go into a shop and test the mattress.
I bought one from Dreams and got a good sale deal, but it's firm with a layer of memory foam which was new to me , but when I tried it out in the shop, I found it very comfortable but with plenty of support. Am still pleased with it 9 months on.

I’m expecting my new Dreams bed to be delivered tomorrow.. I can’t wait, as my old one has had too many granddaughters jumping on it.

I tried it in-store and found it really comfortable. I really like the 40 day trial period they offer, too.
Interestingly, Dreams was at the bottom (along with Argos)- both 69% satisfaction score - of the Which? best mattress retailer table. Top was Casper (online only) and John Lewis. Oddly, Dreams got only 2 stars for "value for money".
I wasn't particularly recommending Dreams in my post, but was recommending going into a shop and trying the mattress. Obviously, some people can't do this, just as I used Dreams because it is literally round the corner and in my state of health this was very important. In fact, I have to say their staff were excellent, there was a 40 days free trial as mentioned and free delivery. Add to that the fact I bought it in the sale meant that, price wise, I felt it was good value for money and earned 5 stars for ' making my life easy '. Sometimes, as your health deteriorates, your shopping choices become more limited and you have to make the best of what's available.

^^ and I was not suggesting that you shouldn't have gone to Dreams. I was simply relaying the results of the extensive Which? survey.
I was just about to say, “Gee thanks, ginge!!” :)

Thanks for all the suggestions will make sure I really get what I'm looking for this time it was an expensive mistake last time
I took delivery of my new bed from, Dreams yesterday. I had my first night’s sleep in it last night.

I can honestly say I had the best night’s sleep I’ve had in years. When I woke up this morning my back was considerably less sore. Wonderful.

The Dreams delivery was on-time and went seamlessly. I’m so looking forward to hitting the hay tonight.

I would recommend, Dreams.
