I wanted a small catch for a box I'd made and found one on the internet, incredibly, the postage was £19-95. If I posted the equivalent item, it would cost 90p for stamp and £1 for padded envelope, so sent e mail asking if the decimal point was in the right place. Ordered from another site and received the item two days later, post free from Hong Kong! Still waiting for a reply from the other company.

Were they a wholesaler or trade supplier that usually deals in bulk? I always find that p&p is usually dearer from those types of companies.

Thanks rocky, that must be the answer. Seems a strange way to encourage business.
Incredible! I sometimes wonder whether some companies actually want to stay open.
If they are a wholesaler they probably discourage small sales, one way to do it is extortionate p&p.
