Not sure where to post this so apologies if this is not the most appropriate section. Just received a leather jacket via mail order. There are a couple of creases where it has been packed as it is quite fine leather. Apart from returning the jacket, which I'd rather not do if possible, does anyone have any ideas how to remove the creases? At the moment the jacket is on a table with some heavy books on the creases.....

I'd put it on a decent hanger and leave it somewhere warm.

Thanks - I'll try that...
Hi sidkid i don't know but if hanging up doesn't get rid of them maybe you'll have to take to the dry cleaners although they might charge and arm and leg. I also have a creased jacket question i need to ask about so good luck!
How long have you got before you have to return it? I'd be careful about doing any more than hang it somewhere warm until you have decided to keep it regardless.
This endorses Ginge's suggestion, with a plan B if that doesnt work

If you keep it somewhere warm wouldn't you dry out the leather so the creases would be more apparent and deeply engrained? Maybe a neutral slightly moist setting like a garage or conservatory would be better?
Try hanging it in a steamy bathroom. Also why not get in touch with the company you bought it from and see if they have any suggestions.
I really wouldn't steam leather or hang in steam unless you have decide to keep it. Fine ie thin, not fine quality, leather is a b* for watermarking. henrietta, the moisture in leather is oily, not water. provided the warm place is not bone dry then normal air humidity will prevent it drying out.
Sounds to me like it has been stored flat rather than on a hanger, if it was good quality leather then a day or two in a box shouldn't really make that much difference. I think I'd return it and look elsewhere.
