My lovely brother and his wife have had their first child today (a girl). I'm not big on shopping so I am looking for present ideas - £20 - £25 area. Thanks.

Digital photo frame?? Or did you want it to be baby specific. With family I usually ask what if anything they may need.

Thanks both - don't think they will be short of anything. First grandchild for her parents, large families and both have good jobs.
I would go for the easy option and get them Mother Care vouchers or something. That way they don't end up with something they don't want or get a chance to use and you haven't wasted your money on something they don't use.

A small item of silver, not the usual baby gifts(silver plated piggy bank etc) . But maybe a small item of antique silver that will increase in value over time. Gold and Silver prices are about one of the only things at the moment that seem to be rising.

How about booking and paying for a meal out somewhere a few weeks down the line and offering to babysit?

If I lived nearer I would help out in any way that I could (but I don't do nappies!). Will have a think, but thanks for your ideas so far (well, most of them).
How about a silver charm bracelet that you can add to over the years?
I usually buy a present for the new mum maybe some nice smellies and just a small teddy or something for the baby to remind her she is still her...not just suddenly little ones mum
