Buying Animal Medication Online?

Does anybody do this and if so, is there a reliable website?

I am asking as I want to buy advocate for cats (4kg-10kg) for my moggie. The vets is quite expensive and I have seen online offers. I tend to view buying drugs online as something not done at all for humans or animals because it carries to many risks. I can obviously get a prescription.

(I do know that I want to go with advocate and not an alternative).

I'd appreciate any opinions, thank you! :c)

I can't answer your question directly but I did recently note that my local Asda pharmacy was promoting both Frontline and Advocate (with big posters advertising prices which I know to be far lower than a vet would charge). Worth trying perhaps?

I shall go have a nosey on Asdas site then!
I use Viovets which is an online site, excellent service. Got my last lot of frontline for my dogs off there much cheaper than elsewhere.
Question Author
I'll have a look? How do you know with these things what you're getting is the same as what you would get in the vets (or doctors)? This is what worries me.
Viovet are very good. My vet charges £8.00 for the prescription so it doesn't work out any cheaper. Glad you're going for Advocate.
Question Author
Mine is going to charge £37 for 3 months worth which does seem a little steep to me but maybe it's the norm. I've just been looking at viovet and how to order with a prescription :c)
How much is your vet going to charge you for the prescription china?
It does depend on your vet - our old vet used to charge over 50 quid for Stronghold, the new one charges much less. PS I don't like Advocate, we found it far too runny - it upset the cats.
Question Author
I don't know, I need to find out tomorrow but I can buy 6 months worth for £25 from viovet and it's going to cost me £74 for six months directly from vet. Even if he charges me £20 for the prescription, that is still a saving.
Question Author
Maybe I'll just get 3 months initially then boxy. I've been reading up on others and I do like the sound of advocate the most currently so I'd like to see how he responds to it.
I don't suppose your cat would get free prescriptions if it's over 60 in cat years?
Question Author
Given his behaviour at the vet yesterday, I'm lucky he wasn't put down as a hazard to humans jno... safe to say he's not a vet fan.
china, I'm currently paying about 40 quid for 6 vials of Stronghold - from the vet - and I think it's far superior to Advocate.

Our old vet changed to Advocate - God knows why - and we had real problems with Advocate, the manufacturers in the end paid for a nurse to come and show me how to use it. It's very runny indeed, you need to dab it on in 2 or 3 places across the back of the neck underneath the fur, and it dribbles like fury. It dribbled down No 1 Son's neck to where he could lick it, and he started foaming at the mouth.
Stronghold is a neat little vial, a couple of dabs and it just sits on the skin at the back of the neck. I recommend it.

Do they do this type for cats? http://www.google.co....3&ved=1t:429,r:4,s:43
Jeez, I can just see No1 son wearing that gimp mask, jno - he'd shred it in minutes. He got the Elizabethan collar off before we even got to the car - he'd completely panic in that mask.
warning: AVG says China's last link was to a dangerous site. No idea if this is true, obviously.

Stronghold doesn't seem to cover everything advocate does is the only problem I have with it boxy :-/

Was just a pic of Anthony Hopkins in a hannibal mask... :-S
what's the difference these days, then, china? It didn't used to cover roundworm - all I do is get a jab as an extra when they go for their annual boosters. My guys have been on Stronghold (apart from the Advocate interval) for about 4 years, no problems.
