Should men over a certain age, lets say 50, wear jeans. I'm of the opinion that at 50 its time to hang up the denim and wear a casual trouser. I just don't think men have the shape for it after that. i've been shot down in the office for suggesting this, does anyone agree?

It depends on the shape of the man. Mr LL is 60+ and looks great in jeans. People should wear what they look good in. Age is not a factor as far as I am concerned. There are an awful lot of young blokes who look dreadful in them.
Ha, ha Vibra, Quite!!

I am 63. So I am now wearing sensible knee length skirts and nice little blouses with a cardi and pearls!! Not forgetting the sensible shoes.

I am not surprised alldaysmith has been shot down in the office ;o)
I agree with Loftie. My dad wears jeans and he is 66. He is very fit and still has an excellent figure.

I think appropriateness of clothes is more size and shape related than age related!
What happens to mens bums at a certain age, the back and the bum seem to merge into one...
Farahs....lol

Diadora golds...
Lottie - that must look rather elegant under the kaftan!
There are an awful lot of young men who don`t have the shape for them as well - especially when they`re halfway down their backside!

Blimey, i was expecting answers along the lines of , We agree with you whole heartedly alldaysmith......it seems i'm almost on my own here.....however a good point has been made. mens bums and backs merge into one when they reach 50....ditch the denim at 50, i'm starting an action group. :)
Not necessarily Poodi. However mine seems to be doing that!! II would love a nice bum!!
ha, ha ttfn. Bought another kaftan yesterday. Blimey, they are comfortable and hide a multitude of sins!! I am now thinking of a burka!!
well Lottie I suppose a dark coloured burka would not show up the mud stains so much but there is an inherent danger of catching the flowing material of a kaftan on garden canes. Do take care, please ♥
I could tuck it in my navy blue knicks though ttfn ;o)
Put cricket leg pads on for goodness sake woman. You don't want your wicket taken out, do you? ☺
The type of clothes one wears should be according to build and NOT age. I'm sick of seeing fat youngsters wearing hipsters with their belly hanging over them. And also sick of seeing fat people wearing track suits and other sports wear, 'yes, you look like you work out a bit........NOT!'
So, you see, age does not come into it, size however, does.
Size and shape count as does outlook, confidence, and lots of other factors. Age is immaterial - I shall be wearing jeans until I am 80+, just like me mum did.

i agreee with you the trhuthhurts, but also a 55 year old man in jeans, if he's trying to dress like a 30 year old....is also slightly tragic.
Oh ttfn, you do make me giggle x
alldaysmith if a 60 year old wears jeans, how is he 'trying to look like a 30 year old'?? Jeans are the most universal item of clothing you can get.
I am pleased for you Lottie - don't get a lot then?
ads - age is not inmaterial here (geddit?) I would say they are all individual cases. I find it is not so much the jeans, which are universal, but the rest of the ensemble that defines whether or not the dress sense is there.
