It's my parents Ruby (40th) wedding anniversary coming up and I am looking for any bright ideas ? They have everything they 'need' and I just haven't got any inspiration .. not that doesn't cost a small fortune anyway ! Any ideas anybody please ? :-)

Do they have a holiday booked? If not, maybe you could arrange that. Or a weekend watercolour course? Or, at a lower cost, perhaps a hamper? Or a bottle of champagne? Or a box of Havana cigars for Dad and a nice perfume for Mum?

Yes, they're going away for a week somewhere very nice.. certainly nowhere I could afford to send them ! I was thinking to arrange a hamper type thing to be delivered to their hotel. Was just wondering about specifically it being their Ruby .. ?
Thanks for the ideas though Romeo :-)
you can get double photo frames with 'on your 40th wedding anniversary' on them. You could put a wedding photo of them in one side and a pic of them now in the other. Or one of those plates which come with a special pen and you can get people to sign or put a special message on then you put it in the oven and the ink dries permanently. You can order them personalised with your parents names etc and then you just get everyone to sign.
I'll keep thinking!
niki - Maybe a garden centre may stock a ' ruby ' rose? How about organising a special family portrait sitting? Ruby coloured glassware?
Further to the suggestion above, many garden centres stock a variety of rose called 'ruby anniversary' - a lasting reminder of their special day!
get all your family to supply you with copies of there photos of your mum and dad through the ages .. and make a collage and frame it . all your family could write in a scap book and make comments about special events ect .wrap them both up and watch there reaction ...... or you could go around and make a film of all your family and interview them on tape asking tjem questions about your mum and dad .....
i think the 'ruby anniversary' rose is a lovely idea. You could then just contact their hotel and have perhaps a 'rose champagne' put in their room along with some strawberrys or something - keeping with the red/ rose theme?
www.lajollastoneetching.com has great unique custom gifts........affordable too
