little black flies

I've got little black flies living in the soil of all my house plants. is there any way i can get rid of them without damaging my plants ie spraying raid all over them?

these are called sciarid flies and they thrive on moist soil. If you allow it to dry out slightly then they tend to go away. You can buy a soil drench or spray for them that will kill them off if they persist.

I also get them - I just spray a little fly spray over the soil - that does the trick.
