producers are those who converts the light energy from the sun to photochemical energy (food) and make it available for the ecosystem or its components. so basically they are the transformers of energy. solar energy it self can't be used by the ecosystem but by producer it can be converted in to a usable form and the energy cycle continues from producer to consumer, predator and lastly again released to the ecosystem.
