any chemists that could help me here?

what is the scientific name for a compound that is sometimes called "greenium" for school purposes.
It turns black when heated, and loosed around 2g of its original mass. it produces c2o when riacted with hydrochloric acid.

anyone got any clue? thanks x

I've never heard it refered to as "greenium". What a stupid name.

Copper(II) carbonate is found in the mineral malachite. The "ch" is usually pronounced as a "k" sound but should really be pronounced as "sh".

However, as a teacher I have never dared tell my pupils it is pronounced "malashi.....".

Thanks prof. I can see what they are trying to do but I think I would just call it "substance X". Personally I hate these commercially produced courses.
