nope

Hmm

So if I were able to instantly recreate you at an atomic level on the otherside of the planet would you be OK with me obliterating the "redundant" you I started with?

ummmmm..............nope to that also
Yes, just watch out for flies in the transport chamber!
The Heisenberg uncertainty principle says that nothing can be measured accurately. You can know location or speed but not both. In order to teleport ala star trek the precise location and speed of all sub atomic particles in the body must be measured then somehow converted to data, the body desintegrated and then re built at the new location. So the HUP prevents it!

yes loosehead, but what if you stood really still.

jim

it may be possible, yes.

but current quantum theory says no (as loosehead says), but there is no guarantee that this theory is really correct or not. right now it's very popular, but it may not be correct (many physicists think not).
That'll be a 'nope' then, as originally stated.
Can't you just take the bus?
Apparently, according to our present models, no. But the cool thing about science is that you never know when a new model will be developed that works better than previous models. We definitely don't know everything there is to know about matter. So my answer is maybe.

yes - watch...

wwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

and back..

weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

see?

yes, I am always doing it on the Google Earth programme.
Hell of a bandwidth required tho...
