As long as there's a direct line of sight, it's got an infinite range -- although the intensity reduces with increased distance, so an object has to be pretty bright to be easily seen from very far away.

A typical human eye will respond to wavelengths from about 380 to about 750 nanometers. In terms of frequency, this corresponds to a band in the vicinity of 400–790 THz.
visible light is 0.0035% of the spectrum if that helps.
