Was this element ‘predicted’ before its synthesised discovery in 2003?

I apologise if I used the word “predicted” wrongly as I don’t have a knowledge of the periodic table and realise perhaps future elements can’t be so. My reasoning for this question was that the element was known of in the early eighties, though dismissed as pseudo science. But a ‘synthesised’ version created or discovered in 2003? I hope the discrepancy can be explained by AB members knowledgeable on the subject.

as far as I know (non-scientific person) Yes, elements can be predicted before they are seen or proved thanks to the periodic table

Woofgang - tried again, still the same ....persistent large dialogue that can’t be clicked away or dragged! Maybe because I’m using an iPad?

well the whole of he periodic table was constructed
Mendeleev 1867
and he 'predicted' elecment yet to be discovered - eka=silicon is germanium I think
and even some of their properties

the last time I looked at this - prediction of elements doesnt take much of my time - they thought there may be a stable island around N=120.

the light elements ( H and He ) are so stable that it looked difficult to see how the heavier elements were formed - isnt there still a block at carbon and Iron
