She's visible here in Twickenham in the western sky about 25-30 degrees above the horizon. Only light showing.

She's been hugely bright and visible like that here for several weeks in the West after sunset.

Sorry, just noticed that posts here must be true. Therefore, I add that I think it is Venus; could be an alien spacecraft, but that's a mere hypothesis.
Yes very bright here too (Manchistor) but not worth looking at with the old telescope as there is no detail, is there?

Prudie, should I report you for spreading unfounded rumours? (She is lovely, though)
I've been watching her in the western sky for the last 2 or 3 weeks, lovely to see. One night last week Venus was adjacent to the Moon and that was all I could see.

10C. What planet is Manchistor on? Are you spreading fake alien news?
I thought this might be the barmaid from the Dog & Duck.
When I look at Venus through my Celestron Nextar 10" reflector, I can see only a white disc. And it is focused, before you say it. No detail. Never is. Never has been. Just a bright disc.
OK, ok. For non- Mancs, it's here in Manchester.
Clear as a bell against the blue sky in Pembrokeshire

Captain; the most impressive view I had was when she sat between the horns of the moon; not directly in between, but lined up beautifully at a reasonable distance - 2001 opening shot type of thing. You can see why the ancients were impressed by such visions.

10c Is that how you spell M up there? So the rumours around Wigan were true?
Just had a quick look. I can see it over near the airport. Shame there isn`t else happening over that way.
What rumours would they be, Aetheist man? What's with the "M"?
Anyone on here remember "comet Hale-Bopp".That was utterly amazing. It must be about 30 years ago because when i mention it to any youngsters i get a glazed look.Does anyone remember comet hale-bopp or did i dream the whole thing up?
I remember Hale Bopp, watched it with my dad.
Yep remember it was a big deal and saw it once, it was 1997 so 23 years ago.
I remember my old dad telling me about how his mam and dad watched Haleys comet back about 1908.He just said they were almost worshipping this massive white tailed comet as if it was a message from God.At that time anything like that would be seen as a portent from God......,a few years later WW1 broke out.
I took some photos of Hale-Bopp in Middleton, Manchester. The local civic society liked them so much, they put them on display in the local library but can be viewed now on the historical CD of the history of Middleton. No, you didn't imagine it. And it won't appear again near Earth for approx 5,500 years. Give or take.
Hale Bopp was brilliant! Even though it was moving so fast, it was visible, seemingly in the same spot, for several nights. I had a strong pair of binoculars at the time and with them you coud see more than one tail. I'd love to see another comet.

Venus has been visible in the night sky for months now.
