Doesn’t that Swedish person ever go to school or does she think she knows it all already?

She’s off to Davos now for a world summit.

What from, reality?
The increasing world population is troubling but is not yet a dominant factor. Africa's CO2 emissions total is dominated by South Africa, whose population is comparable to the UK's.

Controlling population growth is vital for the future of course, but it is not the "fundamental" issue, nor the "real problem" behind Climate Change. For those answers you need to look to industrialised countries, both past and present.
I was answering the question in the OP.
// The problem with governments tackling the issue is that it has implications which will weaken the economy and therefore the incumbent party's electability. //

Which is why nothing much is being done, nor will it ever. Miss Thunberg's efforts are futile, but I have no problem with her making them. Why supposedly mature adults feel the need to insult her is beyond me.

There seem to people that are angrier about Greta Thunberg than Greta Thunberg is angry about climate change, and I find it rather pathetic to say the least.
//Why supposedly mature adults feel the need to insult her is beyond me.//

Agreed.

Agreed x 2
Playing the man not the ball is a well-known and understood tactic.
//Playing the man not the ball is a well-known and understood tactic//

Doesn't make it any less pathetic, when its done by so-called intelligent adults.
I would never insult a child, I reserve that for the manipulative adults around her, all of whom should be deeply ashamed of themselves.
No comment on why you don't listen to the experienced adults who happen to say the same thing then, Andy?

Theland // Greta should delve into the so called evidence, as I did, and concluded that it is hogwash. //

If only you would take that approach with religion.
Jim, //The increasing world population is troubling but is not yet a dominant factor….. the "real problem" behind Climate Change. For those answers you need to look to industrialised countries//

It stands to reason that population growth is a major factor. Fewer people - less demand for industrialised countries to produce goods to satisfy the population. China is instrumental in fulfilling demand - and yet Greta & Co are nowhere to be seen in that vicinity. I agree with Ludwig. We will not revert to some sort of pre-industrialised existence. It simply isn’t going to happen.
"It stands to reason that population growth is a major factor"

I'd say it's a factor, not a major factor, unless you want to compare increased population numbers throughout time to increased temperatures and general pollution.

You could use the dates 1980-2000 just for a brief glimpse into the correlation between more people and more pollution?

By that means, if it's a major factor then that would correlate throughout history?
Industrialisation hasn't existed throughout history.
Good point. When did industrialisation become so prominent?
Then, compare that to pollution levels, and come back to me.

Well at least it's clean.
Again.
I don't doubt that it's a factor, but it is far from the leading factor contributing to Climate Change.
For the reasons I've given logic dictates it has to be.
