Define Genisis on a planitary scale? I was watching the posibility of life outside earch on the History Chanel and they use the word Genisis. "This could be a second genisis"

According to dictionary.com, the definition of Genesis is:

The coming into being of something; the origin.

So, on a planetary scale, I guess you'd say it was the beginning of that planet's history, or at the very least the beginning of a new era of some sort.
Basically, in the beginning, there was nothing. Then God created the Garden of Eden. Then he created Adam and Eve. Then he created Phil Collins. This is how Genesis occurred.
Well, one can't say "in the beginning there was nothing", simply because in the beginning there was "beginning". Now whoever wrote bible realised that (at least John understood the problem): "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God". The Musical Box came later.
