It takes all 5 dogs one minute to kill a rat, so it will take them 100 minutes to kill 100 rats.

Sorry folks the post went haywire-
the question is:

5 dogs can kill 5 rats in 5 mins. How many dogs needed to kill 100 rats in 100 mins?

if anyone can explain the answer Id much appreiciate thanks, its proper stumped me for weeks!!

My Jack russells would have also done the same, no worries, rats are mortal enemies of any self respecting Jack russell.

5 dogs can kill 5 rats in 5 minutes, so 5 dogs kill one rat per minute.

It takes all 5 dogs one minute to kill a rat, so it will take them 100 minutes to kill 100 rats.

Many people assume it's 100 dogs but that's just the way the riddle is worded.

The answer is 1 dog. the equation is suggesting a kill ratio of 1 rat per minute so i dog could kill 100 rats in 100 minutes.

Why would 5 dogs take 5 minutes then? They should have killed 25 rats by then if 1 dog can kill a rat in a minute.

Looking at the size of the dog in your avatar, I reckon he could kill all 100 in 1 minute!
