My 10 year old son is convinced he can find Nelly. Can anyone suggest a good B&B nearby, is it easy to get a boat ride. We will fly from London either Friday night / Early Saturday morning and be back for School on Monday, Is this long enough? Many Thanks

Nelly is big and grey with large ears and a trunk...............and you probably wouldn't need a boat to spot her.
Long enough to see it?

People have spent years permanently camped alongside the banks of the loch trying to catch a glimse of it, so i doubt it.

No harm trying though I guess :-)
the loch ness monster is nessy (or nessie)

Nelly is an elephant.
(who packed her trunk...........)
and said goodbye to the circus..
i am sure at 10 he is still young enough to love the trip though....what a lovely idea
Good luck, because there is a lot of water to look in !

For your info Loch Ness is

25 miles long

1.5 miles wide (widest point)

812 feet deep (deepest point)

The only direct flights from London to Inverness are with easyJet (from Gatwick and Luton) and FlyBe (from Gatwick). Timetable summary here:

The only practical way to get to most of the available accommodation around Loch Ness would be to hire a car. The only two companies represented at Inverness Airport are Europcar:

During the last Ice Age loch Ness was frozen solid. Where did the monsters go then?
