thanks for answers have googled oleary ,it is a des oconner song but it is also a rhyme played with a bouncing ball , so yes it could be a typo

I agree with smurf, when I was young in Scotland, many, many years ago we used to play this with a ball as a street game. I have taught my grandchilfren how to play it and yes I can still get my leg over the ball as it bounces.
