MM Links Solutions July 2010 [Week 5]

For this fifth and final week in July, King John (aka rockfordill) continued with his generous frame of mind as he returned to rural life in the English countryside. Recalling his annual role as a judge in the local fete, he chose the links:
HANGING Judge
Fruit CAKE
Flower POWER
Garden GNOME
Perhaps he is quite severe as a judge, nutty as a fruit cake, recalled his days in a caftan & flares and marked his fondness (or otherwise) for naff garden ornaments!

It was roslyn251254 who opened the game with a triple-hitting set of predictions with HANGING JUDGE, FLOWER POWER and GARDEN GNOME for a massive SIX POINTS! Roslyn had recently returned from holiday and these were her first points during the whole of July. It was a case of “too late to take the crown” but it was just in time to qualify her as HOT SHOT OF THE WEEK.
*** Let trumpets sound and canons roar ***
*** The peasants cheer and shout “Encore” ***
Out of 48 entrants, some 21 were able to “beat the clock” for double pointers from these three link words. Entrant #2 was ulysses with Flower Power for Two Points and similar levels of success were demonstrated by Grenmus, gen2, Dustybun, grannydi, Christiana and centrino. Their reward was also to be Two Points.
Even greater success was to come to Jools, lysander, Strix, owllady, seekeerz and paulineward ~ They each had two prompt hits for FOUR POINTS. The final link to fall went to Entrant #24 (at 09.05) when kawakiri came in munching on a FRUIT CAKE for TWO POINTS. Alas regward (as in paulineward) had two hits, but unfortunately was unable to get to the laptop until 09.07am, so he was to score Two Points (rather than Four). This has happened before!

Aquagility was unable to build on his impressive early lead and was joined by four others from the chasing bunch, all of whom are ex-champions except one ~ that is owllady! This entrant is fairly new to MM Links and attracted the eye of the scorer ~ not least for her striking avatar. I have long picked her out as a future MM Links Champion and now her time has come!

on vacation more often !!!
As soon as I saw your entry at 9.01 Sat I knew that you had it it big,
pity there is no prize money attached, yoyu'll just have to be satisfied
with the plaudits.
Now I'm looking forward to playing the game again next Saturday
after 5 weeks off !!

I feel I have to make a small adjustment to crofter's imagination
in case I am misconstrued !
I was a working accountant in the 60's, totally missed out
on the swinging era, never wore flares or caftans and gnomes
would never darken my garden - nutty as a fruitcake maybe!
It was a real pleasure working with crofter and owllady
congratulations on your new status, crofter is a real
gentleman and you will be well cared for. If I could learn
the ropes then anyone can!
And R talk about the same wavelength - you can
clearly read me like a book!!!

Wow! Not often Dusty gets a toe space on the top rung!! Thanks to the already abdicated King John for a great month and to crofter for all the work he puts in to put this show on the road!
