Hello,

I just wondered what people's views were about FRENCH CONNECTION and also compared with other retail shops, is it the best? Also, what do you think of them using FCUK as a name?

Thanks

i am probably too old to give an informed opinion on the fashion aspects of French Connection, but I do have a strong opinion on its logo.

The notion that it's individual's interperation of the logo that makes them think it looks obscene is patenly false. the idea is to shock, it works, it gets the logo noticed, and it is nasty and uinpleasant.

If the world is populated only by hip young things, and ad. men in red braces, then there is no problem what ever with using a common obscenity connection to advertise a shop. The difficulty is, there are young children, old people, and many inbetween, who find the notion of swearing to be offensive, and this is simply having a cheap snigger at the notion that using an anagram is somehow hip and daring.

In a society where nastiness and aggression are becoming the norm, it would be nice if advertisers used their skills to better ends than simply using schoolboy humour to decorate thje chests of young people, most of whom should be old enough to see outside themsevles a little more, and have a thought for the sensitivities of others.

I agree with Andy.  Ive always thought of FC as being one of the more downmarket fashion labels and its play on words must surely only appeal to the lowest common denominator?  On the odd occasion Ive gone into a FC shop its usually been full of young mums spending a months child benefit on a pair of jeans.
I think they're slow to pick up on fashions, overpriced and the sizing is terrible.  I also agree that the logo is a cheap schoolboy gag.  When I see people wearing the logo T shirts they immediately go down in my estimation.  I'd put Topshop a lot higher in the high street fashion store league.

Thank for your replys they have been very useful to me, but please do not hesitate to add any further comments.
Thak you for your time.
Totally agree with all the other replies.  What a cheap and nasty way to try and get a good share of the market.   I certainly would not buy items with this logo for any youngsters under any circumstances.

Totally agree with the above comments.  I'm 23 and find it totally common. You have to laugh at the sheep.

I agree with the comments. But surely the fact that we are discussing it means the people who thought up the logo have done their job well!!

Sorry. Problems with text. Yes i agree with the comments but surely the fact it is being discussed here means that the ad people have done their job well. It has got the product noticed and talked about. I still think  its tacky though!!

Maybe the ad has got it noticed but as shown here in the thread, the ad has not made people want to buy the product, so it has failed! Is this right

far too expensive for a plain tshirt that really isn't that high-quality, it's trashy and, unfortunately, targeted at my age group so very hard to avoid.

But what isit they say. No advertising is bad advertising! I agrre with magicdice though. Its not good quality and who wants to go out in a T-shirt and see loads of other people in the same thing!!!
I've don't know anything about what they sell, and I don't find the logo particularly offensive.

Disagree with you all FCUK is a really nice range and it isn't a "gag" it stands for french connection united kingdom. The prices are reaonable i'm 12 and my parents buy me things from there
