Last week, Valerie and I spent some quality time with slaney in Kilkee on the southwest coast of Ireland. In my absence, gen2 stepped in to provide his usual admirable service for which I am truly indebted. He brought the reign of “Sir Robin of Linksley” to a successful conclusion when the elusive Sir Robin demonstrated that he could astound his readers yet again ~ relating tales of a life of seclusion and danger ~ he chose the following links:

Tiger LILY
Moth EATEN
Ground SWELL
Wing FORWARD

Sir Robin proved that he could turn the flow of points off and on virtually at will!
PS I am running late so be patient!

The early birds were reasonably successful with centrino claiming first blood for TIGER LILY (TWO POINTS) followed immediately by tearinghair with the same Tiger Lily supported by GROUND SWELL to claim an impressive FOUR POINTS. Shortly afterwards, lysander (claiming to be MOTH EATEN) had spotted the third link in record time for yet another TWO POINTS.

It did not take long before grannydi brought WING FORWARD into the game (to go with her Moth Eaten submission) to claim the last link to make up her FOUR POINTS. However, there was still time for entrants to pick up double points and Fibonacci & caslass were quick to cash in! Once time ran out, points were thin on the ground and only Regward was able to register a late double hit!

The top end of the League Table after this fifth and final week is:

TEN POINTS: lysander & tearinghair
EIGHT POINTS: caslass, centrino, deecee131, Christiana, paulineward & seekeerz
SEVEN POINTS: grannydi
SIX POINTS: beejay1124 & Grenmus
FIVE POINTS: cliffyg, Elspeth & miss meg

Without further ado (and in view of past records) I am pleased to announce tearinghair as the worthy winner of this month’s contest.
*** Let trumpets sound and canons roar ***
*** The crowds go wild and yell “Encore” ***

Anyone who can expedite contact between myself and tearinghair will earn my undying gratitude!

For the present, this is crofter signing off!
See you all next week: Same time ~ Same place

Until then: HAPPY LINKING!

:o)
I think REGward merits a special mention since he is not allowed to post until well after Pauline has done so and is thus deprived of any chance of bonus points. All the more credit to him then for this achievement.
Surely Crofter you already have contact details for Tearinghair since she was a previous setter in September 2009?
Congratulations to tearinghair and the other top scorers. And our thanks to crofter and gen2 for keeping the tally. Aq.
Well I was rubbish at predicting your links Aq...............I didn't manage to predict one of your link words. So I think I'm eligible for membership of the freefall??? Jim managed 4 though. But thanks for a very interesting month. Thanks to Gen2 and crofter for all their work.
As per my email, crofter, I think it should be someone else as I set the links quite recently.
well done tearing hair
and all point scorers
look forward to the June links
thanks crofter

I'm joining Jools in the Freefall Club.
Congratulations to TearingHair and thanks to Crofter and Gen2. Do you share the abacus or does one of you count on your fingers?
Ont-ice, I use my fingers (and toes as necessary) and then forward them to Crofter. I'm getting a bit short just now so if anyone has any to spare? . . .

I take your point regarding recent and repeat MM champions. As far as I know, caslass is an MM virgin (as it were) and is the natural choice for next month's setter.

How about it caslass?
Reg sends his grateful thanks Gen2, that you fully appreciate the difficulties he faces when attempting to post his links!
Pauline commandeers all computers until well after the time has passed to gain bonus points!
I am posting this message on his behalf whilst Pauline has left to collect daughter no.2 from work!! ;O)

Cheers (S)
Well done all, this was a good one - and I think I got one right this week!
I got one right too and before anyone else but nobody noticed....

....sniff !!

But thank you to Aq - I look forward to the next volume of autobiography - perhaps crofter and Gen2 can persuade you to stay on!!
Yes Strix, I had you down for 2 points for Wing Forward (whatever that is: - is it the opposite of a tail-back?) but with only 4 points in total for the month, it is not going to make any difference.
And somewhat belatedly, thanks to Gen2 and crofter and to the amazing Sir Rob/Aqua. Isn't it odd how this game goes - no points at all for me for six weeks and then a joint winning score.
Good luck to next month's setter. I'd certainly love to do it again some time in the future, but not for a while yet; I'm too much of a newcomer still.
I may not be able to take part next Saturday; we're off for a long weekend to the Peak District. I can access the Internet on my mobile phone but I don't think I can use the site fully. So, see you all in two weeks.
Enjoy yourself in the Peak District next week tearinghair. I was there last year (Buxton) and it can also be one of the coldest places - take lots of warm clothing and that is sure to guarantee a warm spell.
Well done tearinghair...I fell at the last hurdle.
gen2...if I hadn't had Reg and Sarumite screaming at me to hurry up and let them have their turn, then I might have thought more clearly, and not be so mithered. I was doing well...Men!! :-)

Reg takes too long with his anyway...he would never get the bonus points!..anyway..Ladies before gents.

Glad you had a good time Crofter.
Gen2, thanks for the warning. It is indeed Buxton!
Thanks crofter for the results - not much good for me - I got nil points.
Congratulations to tearinghair and lysander, top scorers.
Many thanks to aquagility for such an interesting month, not so much for the links, but for your life story. - I am only 9 years younger than you but have not had such a full and interesting life as you, may you continue to have many more adventures to come.
You indeed deserve the title of Sir Robin bestowed on you by crofter
