MM Links Solutions May 2010 [Week 2]

I bet that most of us hadn’t realised that “Sir Robin of Linksley” enjoyed so much derring-do. I couldn’t believe what I was reading when he submitted his preamble for this week’s MM Links, where he settled on links of:

Fear FULLY
SIDE Kick
Drop ANCHOR
Land FALL

Many entrants went for “Fear Less” ~ the very antithesis of champion’s feelings at the time! (Was he wearing his brown corduroy trousers?) Moreover, several of you correctly took the chance to go nautical, but all in all points were hard to come by. I did however notice a new member in JandyAF to whom I bid a warm “MM Links Welcome”!

Amongst the first two dozen entrants, only three were to pick up points. First came Christiana (Entrant #4) with LAND FALL for TWO POINTS ~ (playing a sailor’s hornpipe)! Seekeerz (Entrant #17) had similar thoughts within the time frame to also qualify for Two Points, but it was the “March of the Penguins” that caught the eye.

Of course, I mean gen2 (Entrant #7) who went a stage further by deciding to DROP ANCHOR when spying LAND FALL for a massive FOUR POINTS. This proved to be a winning score and entitles him to be respected as HOT SHOT OF THE WEEK.
*** Let trumpets sound and canons roar ***
*** The crowds go wild and yell “Encore” ***

Only Elspeth, barb7771 and pauline picked up single points before the game built up to a crescendo, when (not for the first time) mirandasmum scored a late goal with FEAR FULLY (TWO POINTS for this ManU supporter). Sir Alex Ferguson would be proud of the timing!

But then in extra time newcomer, boxtops, found the net with a clever little SIDE KICK to pick up the final bonus (worth TWO POINTS). I predict that it won’t be long before boxtops sweeps the pool. In the closing stages of the game, late comer twix123 delivered an impressive nautical double whammy for Two Points, placing him well in contention!

THREE POINTS: boxtops & pauline
TWO POINTS: barb7771, beejay1124, caslass, centrino, cliffyg, mirandasmum, patchett, roslyn, Strix, twix123 & ulysses
Ten others are on One Point.

Remember that this month has 5 weeks to find out even more of the remarkable “Sir Robin” (aka Aquagility). He’ll be telling us next that he was a crofter living off nothing but haggis in the highlands of Scotland and sleeping on bunches of dried heather!

BTW rumour has it that Spooner has spotted a FLAGON DRY approaching from a “reddish” direction!

Jan, exactly the same thing happened to me - won in August, set in September, then no points until November. Nothing for six weeks now either.....so there's no consistency at all in my guessing system!

Goodness me!
Hot-shot of the week AND top of the leader board! - this just can't last, especially as this is a 5-week month - too many chances to miss the target.

Thank you Crofter for the scoring and thank you Aqua for the setting and for making it easier than Strix last month. I look forward to meeting your challenge next week.
