What a weekend! Points for almost everyone for a change, but more of that later.
As far as I could see, King Krophta didn't leave any clues to his pairings this week so I will just announce his chosen links as follows:

African QUEEN
Fever PITCH
Child PRODIGY
About FACE

So who were the winners and losers in the feeding frenzy as the faithful poured out of the shrubbery as soon as the gates were opened.

I don't think I have seen so many bonus points (20 in all) handed out in a single game. It just goes to show that the advice to get your guesses in early really does pay off.

Very first entrant, roslyn251254, opted for AFRICAN QUEEN (2 points) to be immediately followed by EIGHT other old film buffs within the allowed 2-minute window to also qualify for the bonus point.

Entrant #3, Strix, was one of those, but he also chose the pairing FEVER PITCH for another 2 points (4 in total). This pairing proved almost as popular as the first one with SIX others qualifying for bonuses.

CHILD PRODIGY was first found by fordward for 2 points and THREE others also qualified for this one within 2-minutes

Well the clock stood at 9:03, 16 players had entered and all had scored at least 2 points (except for unlucky Grenmus - 0 points).

Amongst those of course, there were multiple hitters who deserve a mention.
Double Hitters (for 4 points) were Strix, fordward and Christiana.

But we also had a Treble Hitter, grannydi, for 6 points.
I therefore declare our *** HOT-SHOT OF THE WEEK *** is grannydi.
Congratulations grannydi - and if crofter hasn't taken the brass section with him to Tenerife, then it is time to cue the trumpets and bugles.
*** Phaarp Phaarp Squeak Phttttt Baarp ***
(I never could quite get my lips round those instruments.)

Now you thought I'd forgotten about ABOUT FACE, but no, it was just slow to be spotted. Ulysses100 managed it though after 15 minutes of play and, along with another single point match, scored 3 points.

Annie49 and eccles were late double-hitters for 2 points each and 12 others managed a single point. Just 7 players (out of 38) failed to score.

Just a reminder to everyone that in this game ALL the chosen links are from 4 to 8 letters in length. You will therefore be wasting your entry if you go for three-letter words.
No names mentioned, but if your occupation is riding horses, you should take particular note of this rule.

Now the League Table after this third week looks like this:-

TEN POINTS :::::: Strix
EIGHT POINTS :: grannydi & tearinghair
SIX POINTS :::::: Christiana, Dustybun, miss meg
FIVE POINTS :::: Paulineward
FOUR POINTS ::: beejay1124, evsajo, fordward, JOOLS, ladyalex, lysander, slaney, x-ray
THREE POINTS : joto, ulysses100
TWO POINTS :::: annie49, Aquagility, centrino, Dinkypuzzled, eccles, roslyn251254, seekeerz
ONE POINT ::::::: Twelve players
ZERO :::::::::::::::: The rest

So, Strix has moved ahead to take the lead whilst grannydi has joined tearinghair as a strong challenger. Which of these will win the month? Or will one of the following pack make a surprise last-minute dash? Who knows, but be sure to be there to take part - same time next weekend.

Hopefully Crofter will be back for the next game.
This is gen2 signing off.
:o)

P.S. Welcome back eccles - you haven't played for a while.
wow ~ the owl done good!

Thanks gen2 ~ the penguin done good too!
Well there you go!, and I was doubtful of being able to play as we are between ISP's at the moment but some 'kind' sole in the area has an unsecured wifi. Just my luck.
Thanks to 'crofter' and gen2 for their work
Roll on next week, I'm on a high!!
Cheers, Gen2, and thank you for you efforts as that truant Krophta sits on the beach/barstool in Tenerife knocking back jugfuls of who-knows-what, giggling, as we who have to put buckets under the leaks in the ceiling try to struggle with his obscure links!!

AND, Krophta, don't pretend that a man with your internet skills, after having honed them in your youth after many a night out in Balmbra's or in Robinson's Wine Bar, cannot from your Atlantic retreat monitor what is going on!!

I dread staying ahead as soon I will be getting complaints (from Oz) about a repeat of "Concrete Poetry". !!
Thanks gen2. Maybe those who went for African Queen (not me) picked up on Crofter's mention of chess as well as old films?
I cannot believe that I am still on the leader board ! Not a contender, but on the board. Hurrah for me!

Well done grannydi and all the other points scorers.
Thanks to crofter and gen2.
See you all next week.
Well done grannydi!! Thanks Gen for stepping in and running the comp so smoothly. Can't believe I actually got points this week too!!
Well done grannydi...and thanks gen2.

Strix in the lead eh? Hmm that figures he's on the same wavelength as Crofter...they both tease me! (or try to)
"Tease" you Pauline?

Crikey, I've sailed uncharted waters, skied black runs, tried hang-gliding without any training BUT tease you Pauline?

Golly, I'd be certified...
