Good morning all and welcome to my fifth and final week as Pope Adrian the Copious. "Deo Gratias" and "Hooray", I hear you say. Now that most of you have been penitent enough to have scored points, it will be interesting to see who will rise to the top as the setter of the links for next month.

Having retired from the bank eight years ago (before the financial meltdown) I set up a business consultancy after a couple of years and now work two or three days a week with two firms of Insurance Brokers. Being self-employed means that I can take whatever time off that I wish, therefore after the schools return next month Mrs. T and I are off to see her siblings and multitude of nephews and nieces in Northern Ireland (in the same county that Baron Brian aka beejay1124 hails from). Whilst there, I shall be indulging in a different kind of 'links' game or (as 'she who must be obeyed' calls it) a four lettered word spelling 'flog' backwards.

For many years now, a group of my golfing companions make a trip to Ireland every May, where we are joined by some of our friends who live over there, for four or five days of golf, Guinness and the craic. Being the Captain for next years tour, I get to choose where we will be based and the courses to be played. Obviously I have decided to include Northern Ireland and intend to show my friends the attractions of County Antrim.

From the nine glens via Ballycastle, you can see the Mull of Kintyre on a clear day and feel that you can step across to Rathlin Island, although it is six miles away. Furthermore, we must visit the oldest licensed distillery in Ireland at Bushmills, its been over 400 years since it was first licensed and its believed to have been going for at least 400 years before that. No doubt we shall imbibe in a small snifter or two of its product. Then theres the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge and on to the Giants Causeway, with dramatic scenery all the way. While Im over there next month, I intend to start making the necessary arrangements.

As for my final MM Links Game, I shall follow the rules relating to the word length as introduced by crofter. Each of my chosen link words contains at least four letters and at most eight. Stray outside this range and you will be wasting one or more of your attempts! Each of my selected words may go in front of or after my challenge word. The competition will officially close at 7.00pm on Sunday evening when my selected words will be declared, and points awarded in the usual manner. My fifth set of words to be linked should appear below at 9.00am.
