Sizer
Question Author
Surely the word sizer relates to specific dimensions, not "considerable" which suggests very large?
Chambers has -

"...a thing of considerable or great size (slang)"
sizer n a measurer; a gauge; a thing of considerable or great size .

Take it or leave it. Your choice.

Thanks. Looks like I should get a Chambers rather than my Oxford dictionary if I want to do this puzzle in future.
Chambers is nearly always the one recommended by setters
to which one must ask ... why? after all, the oxford is the bible of our language
I entirely agree sincnoel.

I get fed up with being told that I have to look in chambers or Webster-meridian, when the OED is the ultimate dictionary.
