This third week in the reign of Baron Brian continued to shower points upon the wise and the lucky. This penultimate week dwelt on the theme of Kitchen Gardens and link words:

Pea BRAIN
Bean POLE
Root BEER
COUCH Potato

Once again there were a few thinly disguised clues with an anagram (of BRIAN), a wee drink and vegetating. But who cashed in the points?

Many of the first dozen or so entrants scored TWO POINTS for ordering a ROOT BEER including Jools, jan1956, gen2, slaney & Strix. Around this same time, the COUCH POTATOES were quick on the scene with fordward, Dinkypuzzled, seekeerz & lysander posting their predictions within the required two-minute window to score TWO POINTS each. In the midst of this action, a lone ulysses100 slipped in a BEAN POLE virtually unnoticed to claim yet another hit (after a two-week absence).

However, it was paulineward who really caught the scorers eye with both the final link of PEA BRAIN (no comment) and ROOT BEER in hand (say no more). This brought a well-deserved FOUR POINTS to bring to Pauline the coveted title of HOT SHOT OF THE WEEK!
*** Let trumpets sound and cannon roar ***
*** Let the people cheer and shout Encore ***

Amidst the run of single pointers, double hits were scored by ex-champions cliffyg & wickedtongue. Also worthy of mention was Mr Ont-ice who scored for the third consecutive week! Well done Bert!

I extend a warm welcome to debutants Mr & Mrs Eccles who are regulars in the Game of KM Links (but sadly each scoring ZERO points). In general, the big points went to those who already had plenty. Once again consistency has held throughout the month.
Thank you crofter and Baron Brian
and
Congratulation to paulineward with her selection of link words about which I can only second crofter's comment!!
Well done Pauline and the other scorers. Consistency has certainly 'held throughout the month' for me - unfortunately it's a consistency that largely consists of zeros. I don't seem to be picking up the hints - must try harder!

The League Table after this third week is:

EIGHT POINTS: gen2
SEVEN POINTS: cliffyg & seekeerz
SIX POINTS: Dinkypuzzled, jan1956, paulineward & x-ray
FIVE POINTS: jools, roslyn251254 & teacher1
FOUR POINTS: Aquagility & slaney
THREE POINTS: fordward, lysander, Mr Ont-ice & wickedtongue

I can count over ten ex-champions in the Table (above) and I will be looking for new blood! So be prepared next week for bl**dy battle!

Until then, this is crofter signing off for another week.

See you next Saturday: Same time Same place Same setter

Until then: HAPPY LINKING!

:o)
Congratulations all point scorers and thanks Crofter for your hard work but are you sure you haven't made a mistake this week??? Pauline Hot Shot ????? That can't be right, but then as you noted ROOT BEER and PEA BRAINED........well perhaps you were right after all!!!
Pauline you know I love you really !!!
Thanks for your words Baron Brian, but please could you choose one next week where I could get just 1 point???
Nothing for me again this week....sigh....

Well done Pauline, gen2 and all the point scorers.
Thanks to Baron Brian and to crofter.
With Dustybun's encouragement, I thought I might have a go at the MM version, though so far as I can see I'm not on the same wavelength as your setters yet .....it's obviously a different way of thinking compared with KM! I'll have a trial run next week and then join in properly in May, if that's OK?
You are more than welcome Tearinghair. I have been doing this for over a year and I am very rarely on the same wavelength as the setter !!!!! We are all friends on here and it's just a bit of fun.
Please don't think I was being nasty about Pauline being Hot shot, she is my very good friend really !!!
thank you crofter, and Baron Brian whose wavelength I have yet to cotton on to! Oh well. Can't be good at everything ~ or even anything!! and well done Hot Shot Pauline ~ and just look at that penguin on top of the leader board!

Look forward to seeing you next week tearinghair on MM & KM. You might even enjoy a stroll round the Links shrubbery on Friday evening. Crofter usually opens up about 7 pm. :0)

Tearinghair - Don't worry about it! I'm definitely not on the same wave length as Baron Brian, but next month someone else will be setting the links, and I just know I shall be able read his(?) mind perfectly!!
Just logged on!!! ....Wow!!! Hotshot of the week!!! :-)))

Have had a very busy weekend...and enjoyed some lovely fresh air in the sunshine...so I have been awol!

Wonder if I can go for the kill next Saturday!!

Tearinghair...a warm welcome to the game!
Good luck next week...
Please join us in the shrubbery on a Friday night when we prepare for battle!

Just ignore that evsajo....she is just a mad woman who we all be nice to so that she doesn't put a curse on us!
I went to visit her once...and when I got there she was stirring a cauldron and chanting....the mind boggles!

You will be okay with the rest of us!! :-))

Pauline, she was probably stirring the cauldron and chanting "where's my washboard? Where's my washboard?"
Now now girls.....Congratulations pauline - hot shot again eh.
Thanks crofter for the results and thanks baron brian, although I didn't score this week.
x-ray if you can't see through him what chance have the rest of us got?!! :0)
Yes, see what you mean.Dusty
I did okay for the first two weeks of his reign though....maybe next week..............still in with a chance !!!!
