Hi everyone. I am just in the process of finishing off the new "C People" Quiz for Wragby Swimming Club, and wondered whether folk generally prefer to have the number of words/letters given after each clue. e.g. (4,7). I haven't done this in previous quizzes, but I see that some other compilers are starting to do it more and more. Does it make it too easy? I would be interested to know what you think, or whether you're bothered or not.

Yes + yes. Much prefer to have words & letters.
Giving the word lengths does make it a little easier to solve.

But, if you don't want to give the lengths you should at least say how many words the answer contains, if it is more than a single word answer.
I think it's a good idea where there are lots of possible answers. A while ago, there was a pairs quiz and you were given sets of initials, e.g. S & S. You could come up with loads of possibilities but if your answer didn't match the compiler's, it was wrong which was a bit harsh. In that case, having the numbers of letters needed would have been a pointer to the right answer.
Yes, I prefer to have number of letters as well
I agree especially as the Rhodes Minnis one in particular only marks right what they think and then even put sorry you chose wrong one which made it worse
Just had another one back like that too and it is disappointing
When will the qui be ready please?

Thanks for letting me know what you think.

I certainly agree with FoxLee and smouse that it helps to have number of words/letters when it's the type of quiz where you could have several "correct" answers. However, as this is a "people" quiz, and all the answers are names, I think it will probably make it rather easy. However, I'll try it this time and see how it goes.

Just putting the finishing touches to it, jillie, and hope to have it ready to send out soon after the present one (General Knowledge & Picture Quiz) closes on 13th Jan. I will post on here when it's ready.

It does help a lot to have the number of words/Letters certainly when there are alternative answers. I do enjoy your quizzies and will continue to do them with or without the extra help.

Thank you kindly, Mancunian. Hope the "C People" lives up to your expectations.

a bit late adding my comments, but yes length of answer is important, looking forward to the next one.

So glad to see you've gone back to your original formula Big Jenny, and yes I would prefer the number of letters.
