Who do you think is prepared to pay Clarence Mitchell, and continue to pay him even after this case has reached a conclusion?

He has given up his 70,000 per year goverment job to work on behalf of the McCanns. His predecessor gave up her job as spokesperson for the McCanns, she incidently was paid out of the Madeleine fund.

While working for the goverment this man was instrumental in arranging for the McCanns to obtain a ordinance with the Pope, as well as other media work on their behalf.

There is something not quite right in all of this, what am I missing? There as been nothing to compare with the twist and turns in this case. The Mother of that little Boy Ben Needham, who went missing in 1991 in Kos, Greece, did not get anywhere near the same help or show the same concern as the MaCanns have, why?

Because she was a single mother and they are doctors!
Probably one of the newspapers so this story can go on and on ad infinitum and they make even more money?

Maybe it's the NHS. They need their doctors back on duty instead of wasting taxpayer's money?

I agree, something's not quite right here. So they want to re-start the campaign to find Maddy - because it's getting a bit too hot under the collar???

Lets not forget it was they that caused all this in the first place - one way or another.
Although trying to keep an open mind about the McCanns I find his appointment and the press releases, he is obviously responsible for, are making me more more cynical about their motives.
The last few days have been nothing but trying to promote their image as devoted and loving parents. Frankly some of the claims have been bordering on the ludicrous. Just one example of many. Headline in Sunday paper. New secret witness will provide evidence of their innocence. Secret witness is man who Gerry had spoken with on his way back from the apartment at 9.15.We already knew about him. The startling new evidence- 'Gerry looked calm and unruffled' And that was it. The newspaper went on to point out that if they were stood talking at this location he should have seen Ruth Tanner and the man she saw carrying a child but he saw neither.I don't think Mitchell is helping their cause at all.
I also find it stange that they contacted Kirsty Wark, through a third person the following morning, seeking publicity.
In answer to your final question, Ben Needham's mother didn't get the same amount of help or coverage as the McCanns because she was nowhere near as adept at handling the media. It's a shame but she wasn't. If she had been maybe her son would have been found.

What baffles me is that people criticise the McCanns for this, as if they should be following Mrs Needham's lead and failing to maintain a media profile - rather than desperately trying to find their child.

If you're going to criticise anyone, criticise Mrs Needham, surely?
Why do they need to hire a top criminal lawyer, and a spin doctor/spokesman for anyway - if they are innocent? Are they unable to speak for themselves?
Actually, mata hari, they are.

Under Portuguese law they are unable to comment upon the case............until they are informed that they are able to do so.
