MM Links Game 2007 July [Week 1]

Well, the Moment of Truth has finally arrived when my elation at becoming the next MM Champion has to be translated into cold reality of providing action. I note last night on AB that crofter referred to me as Queen Christiana - So be it!
"Queen Christiana" - sounds like something out of a fairy tale, but in reality I feel more like some nervous little cartoon character, having to follow such polished adepts as gen2 & wickedtongue . I truly feel as if I'm out of my depth and so nervous that I keep fumbling at the keys on the computer and hitting the wrong buttons. However, if you are able to read this, then I must be doing something right!
It's strange to be in the other camp, and I'm not sure I like being so exposed. In fact, I've gone quite pale at the thought of it. I recall Barbara saying that she was nervous at first, but enjoyed the buzz of being the hunter not the prey!
So what will be my theme? Will you be caught out by my links, or will they all fall in the first five minutes? Have I given clues or is all this worth very little, nothing to be made of it at all? I'm trying to sound confident here, but you don't even need 50% of a brain to see that, in the words of the poet, Stevie Smith, I'm "not waving but drowning".
I will say this, my first set of words to be linked are really open ended. I want to see if there is anyone out there who is on my wavelength. Later in the month, I'll try to play a tighter game using link words with more limited options.

Like most of you, I know how to predict better than how to work out the scores. Hence, like my predecessors, I have followed the same rule as crofter on word length. Each of my chosen link words contains at least four letters and at most eight letters. Stray outside this range and you will be wasting one of your attempts! The competition will officially close on Sunday Evening at 7.00pm, when crofter will declare my selected words and then apply the same rules for awarding points that have been applied during all MM Link Games in the past.
