This week's chosen link words were as follows:

Mother SUPERIOR
Sunday SCHOOL
PASSION Flower
Chocolate ECLAIR

What's going on I ask? Where is the beer-swilling, rugby-loving, dart-throwing "man's man" that we have been focusing on in order to find out what makes him tick? Did you feel this week that wickedtongue was more in touch with his feminine side? You'd be correct! I've just been informed that the choice of links this week was largely influenced by his partner silvertongue (aka Sue). No man would think of a chocolate eclair or predict one!

Thereafter, the game plans unfolded as in the past! Three of the four links went quickly, as the last ECLAIR was left alone in the box.

The first link to be claimed was Mother SUPERIOR in a frantic spell from 9.03 (Grenmus) and 9.04 (cliffyg) [the 2-minute Rule applying] who incidently dealt a double whammy by remembering to go for Sunday SCHOOL. This feat merits four points and makes cliffyg the Hot Shot of the Week!

Only one minute later, rogerr also picked two points for the same Sunday SCHOOL. At 9.07, FoxLee (our resident trainee lawyer) came in with yet another Sunday SCHOOL, but scores only one point because he was THREE minutes behind the first person to make the successful prediction.

My sincere thanks go to FoxLee for keeping order in the ranks!

The 2-minute rule was to appear yet again in a flurry of PASSION (Flowers) involving two people who should know better! There was jan1956 (Entrant #12 at 9.05) and Jim (under the watchful eye of Jools). Each picks up two points for early hits!

That left the Chocolate ECLAIR which held out until 10.37 and 15 seconds when chriss appeared and uttered the memorable line (and I quote) Chocolate ECLAIR yummy!! Such sheer abandonment cannot be fabricated! I would like to award more points than two, but the Rules would not permit!

Special mention goes to ChrisHewat who made TWO hits in a hostile environment! Competing with Shazzer AND against the choices of silvertongue.

MONTHLY SCORES TO FOLLOW ...
My pleasure, Crofter - you'll be receiving my bill at the end of the month!! Incidentally, I'm a she.
Just read the answers to Reg...he is distraught! He says a REAL man would not have picked them!!!
But this is not a real man, this is Superman!
Thanks to you, crofter, and to wickedtongue - though once again I've nul point.

The tortoise and the hare compete in classic fashion, since on 6 points we have cliffyg (thanks to his recent burst of speed) and rogerrabbit (after three steady weeks of 2 points per week!). In the event of a tie, the rules are clear in that the hare takes precedence!

After these two front-runners, we have on 4 points: (yummy) chriss, (passionate) Jim, and (mighty) ulysses!

On a worthy score of 3 points, we have Grenmus, Regward, sarumite and last but not least Pebbles (cool as an ice cube). Which will last the course!

IMPORTANT NEWS: There will be TWO weeks left to finish off March (not just ONE). This is a month with FIVE Frudays! I dread to think what wickedtongue will be up to next week!

Until then, this is crofter etc etc etc.

Have a good night to one and all!

The rest of this posting belongs to you lot!
[Chocolate eclair - I ask you! What sort of a link is that .....]

mutter mutter chunter chunter ...
I don't believe it. He's done it again. Well I supose I can't really complain this week as I have won the runner's up prize in the Sat. Tel. Xword
Well done to everyone who scored...that does not include me!!
wickedtongue...you were VERY bad this week!
Thanks for your efforts anyway, and thanks to Crofter...feeling better?!

Now I find FoxLee is a FOXY LAYDEE. What is the world coming to? mutter mutter chunter chunter ...

Reg, Gender comments only apply to (yummy) ECLAIRS!
Anyway why should I explain to someone who stabbed me in the back!? Look at my face - do I look bovvered?
[don't start Pauline (nil points) Ward off! You know she always gets the last word!!!]
Crofter...Reg has room to talk anyway...chocolate fingers I ask you!!!...mind you he still got one more than me...but I'm not mentioning that!
2 whole points ! for a passion flower great news and another week added to amass who knows how many more?
thanks crofter and wickedtongue same time next week everybody?
I have the weekend off next week so may hit thwe shrubbery, though as i spent Friday night in bed as I was at work on Saturday morning perhaps that is the way to the points?
well done everybody
jan
Booby prize for the Ont-ices.
Who incidentally love chocolate eclairs, but who love chocolate liquor even more and hence their downfall on that one.
Mother superior - too 'righteous' for us and that being so, Passion flowers not allowed so perhaps we should go to Sunday school.

Thanks wickedtongue - you have us totally confused.
Thanks Crofter who only gets confused on certain occasions and who always manages to come up 'tops' when needed.
Good luck to all the winners and condolences to our fellow losers.
I demand equal rights for tortoises and rabbits--Crofter ---how very dare you!!
Well done everyone!!

Several points to make:

patchett MM starts on SATURDAY at 9.00am and I am only the scorer. With KM, I am only a punter like everyone else! Is Chloe back to the fullness of health?

jan Nice to see you in the points. I know you find KM more to your way of thinking - but now I feel you are enjoying both games. It's a lark, eh!

rogerr In the early days, we decided to split a tied pair by looking for the "big hit". This rule favours the "hare". Now I would like to replace that rule by counting the number of times the letter "R" appears in their name!
What d'ya think?

Pauline We would also have the Kray Rule for anyone married to a twin called ....

Dustybun For anybody who lets their buns get dusty ...
Crofter--you always have an answer, and it is always for the benefit of the game--and may it always be so.
I just think that us rabbits witha tortoise strategy always get a bad press!
;0) B

Jools - well done for the Telegraph prize. And well done all those on Wickedtongue's (and Silvertongue's) wavelength. So far I've not cracked it, but great fun and two more weeks to give it a whirl. Perhaps this tortoise will yet pass the hare - I can dream
Yes. Yes. Yes. I am made up - 2 links at long last - thanks for the confidence crofter!

Congrats to Jools and to the early bird deux pointers (and the tortoises and hares) and thanks to wickedtongue (or was it silver!) for allowing me to be on the right wavelength or at least half of it!!

Here's hoping KM is also on my wavelength but I somehow doubt it. Shazza inconsolable as I speak!
Congratulations Jools on your Sat Tel win; runner-up sounds good to me.

crofter my bun is not dusty - it is highly polished, so there!

Well done all you point winners (grrrrr!) and thanks again to wickedtongue and crofter (got that right this week!) and roll on Friday (or is that Fruday?!!) :O)
May I say that I have had the most brill Mothers Day--It has been so fantastic, and the boys have been the best--as always!!
luv Mum
Thanks wickedtongue and Crofter for all your hard work. I am getting totally addicted to this as my family will agree. My 3 children, spouses and grandchildren were here when at 7pm I said must go upstairs to computer to see Saturdays words!!!! Alas once again not a sausage!! I started off quite well a few weeks ago now I am rubbish.Never mind another TWO weeks to go and I must think of a different way of looking at the words, I am not on wickedtongues wavelength.
Hope all Mums had a lovely day and my best wishes to everyone.luv Evsajo (Kay)
Think I will have to celebrate getting one of the link words at last. No chocolate eclairs here though:-(
Never mind - plenty of mother's day choccies instead!
Thanks Crofter and wickedtongue for all the work you put in.
(yummy) Chris
