I've been also very keen to see any suggetions at all, was fiddling with this yesterday. I can see that assigning their position in the alphabet to figures gives you things like TT is 2020 and if you add those (why necessarily?) you get 40.  Similiarly HA would be 8 and 1, IA would be 9 and 1 etc but no idea where mally thinks that's a pattern throughout that includes multiplying everything by 2 as I couldn't make it work.

Sorry but that is a ludicrous solution, even the explanation is rubbish, those are not the common digraphs or vowel combinations, there are plenty of others more common - all that said is irrelevant anyway, no way would the setter of what I assume is some charity quiz have even dreamed of such a question that requires that as the answer.
