No more football results to be read out on Saturday afternoon radio. I remember I used to sit with my Littlewoods pools copy checking the results as they were announced. Never won anything, but for a time it was a bit of a ritual. Will it be missed?

I didn't know they still did it but remember hearing it as a child as my father used to listen. He taught me even way back then that you could usually tell who had won, drawn or lost before the second score was read out just by the variation in the lilt of the way the away team name was read out.
They read them out on BBC football focus and they read it all right down to some obscure division with teams I've never heard of.
I once wrote to Jim'll Fix It asking if he could fix it for me to read out the football results! I used to sit and copy what they were saying every Saturday.
No, won't be missed...because it's still being done at 5.05pm on Saturday afternoons, only on LBC rather than BBC.
