Added to the Monthly Round up, loos a good one to round off your great fund raising.

Thanks for all the quizzing fun over the years x
Not a very auspicious conclusion though if answer given by 74% of the entrants was deemed to be the correct one even though it wasn’t.
What was it, grumpy?
The question was, what fruit is a cross between a peach and a plum. The answer given was Nectarine, which if you look anywhere tells you that is incorrect.I gave an answer of Brugnon which I found was the correct name.If that was not so I do not have a problem but to define the correct answer as one given by 74% of entrants is laughable.
30) What fruit is a cross between a Plum and a Peach?

Setter's note on answer sheet.

Regarding Q. 30. The question and answer was sourced from a Quiz book produced by a National Newspaper. 74% of quizzes returned have answered Nectarine, therefore, on this occasion, that answer will be accepted as the correct one. The Judges decision is final.
Mamyalynne that is a feeble cop out by the setter.
I do hope you have addressed your anger to the lady personally rather than just on here, I have always got along with her well over the years.

Had I been the setter or judge I would have voided that question to put everyone on an equal footing.

Still, it's now one less quiz for you to get steamed up about.
I have indeed e mailed her with my criticism.I agree with you she should have voided the question. Also I had my Hedgehog quiz result yesterday and found I had 59 out of 60.Having re read his cryptic clue I realise I got it wrong and am quite happy with that.I do not have a problem with being wrong to correct answers but do have a problem when a setter does not ensure his/her answers are correct.
With the best will in the world, mistakes happen as I know from past experience (I don't set now).
Setters raise so much for worthy causes and whilst I find blips annoying, I accept we're all human.
I agree Mamyalynne,we all make mistakes and setters do take a lot of trouble to set quizzes. What did annoy though was the fact she had been influenced by the number who had given an answer and not bothered to find if it was actually correct.
As Brugnon is basically a Nectarine, perhaps it ought to have been allowed.
Mamyalynne I know I moan sometimes a bit too much but by your last correspondence you obviously agree I have a valid argument.
Thanks also to The Winner.
Tbh, I would have put nectarine. But, if there is a more accurate answer, that should obviously be allowed too.
If she hadn't known it, like I didn't, I would have googled to see if it fitted. Did she mark yours as wrong, grumpy?
Mamya's link shows, that nectarine is the English word.
Yes Pixie marked as wrong.
