Good evening, I'm stuck on 1, 4 & 5.
Answers with parsing would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Cryptic Connections
In a Cryptic Connections puzzle, five cryptic crossword clues must be solved; their answers can be made from the list of letters given underneath. Once all the clues have been solved, some letters will be unused; these can be arranged to give a word or phrase that links the answers to the five clues.

1 Soldier right to enter US state (6)
2 Finance expert? Sure thing! (6) ASSERT
3 Fit dog roars occasionally (6) FREMIT
4 Trough in middle of piggery, say (6)
5 Royal pictures broadcast (6)

1 Ma-R-ine
4 (pig)G(ery) + utter = gutter (trough)
2. Banker
Nice one jj, I looked at 'assert' and thought 'how does Matakari get that'.
especially as there are no S"s in the list of letters to use!!
5 Prince/Prints
Ha, ha. Hadn't noticed that either.

Now you mention it there's no 'F' for Fremit!!
3 Tail or
Matakari - the connection should therefore be an anagram of
"TERCHANM"
I was looking at this but pulled out as I couldnt see ASSERT or FREMIT at all (not even a real word to me) so assumed I was outta my depth.
Agreed jj109, thats my banker

Thanks, all, for your help! I should have noticed that my 2 and 3 were incorrect since the given list of letters does not carry "f" nor "s". I think my brain is somewhat saturated with a series of puzzles I've been doing for the day, including Masterpiece by Craft ( I'm surprised to have almost completed it! ). Hope The Spectator provides a Doc offering tomorrow!
