Earlier on there was a post about one of the posters not being able to sleep.

But don't know which one of you said - one of you like stays up until 2am and then wakes up 4 am - then falls asleep.

I 'm not going into the details of who was who but I would love to know - what do yous do until 2 am and other abnormal times.

Do yous read, craft, sew, knit, - like hell - what do yous do. - like I definitely couldn't fill that time in - I just crush my head under the duvet and hope baby Sleep comes. Just would love to know your secrets of how you get your time by.

I think that was on Bobbie22's thread JJ.

I stay up watching TV until well gone 3am after I sign off from my song thread.

The way I see it is that it doesn't matter when or for how long I sleep.
That was Barsel, jj.
I used to stay up that late...spent too much time on here, or chatting to others who didn't sleep. Did a LOT of reading...which is something I need to get back to.
Luckily though, I generally sleep through once my head hits the pillow. Even if I need the loo, I'm straight back to sleep...touch wood.
Hopefully Barsel will let you in on her secrets ;)

oh yes Mamy - I knew it was on Bobbie22 thread - I just wanted to make this post separate from hers in trying find out what Pasta and Barsel do to pass such a long night.
Question Author
thanks Pasta for your answer - but um like right now - what time does your head hit the pillow.

Sorry for shoehorning my twopennorth in to :-)
Question Author
ah that's ok Mamy - it is actually good to hear from other posters too what they do to get the night in.

I have sorta shortened my TV watching but then again when I can't sleep - I sorta put it on again Mind you very low cos of neighbour and of course I do depend on the subtitles
Hi again jj.
Depending on how tired I am, I go upstairs about midnight. Then I have some sites I look at...I love houseplants and peering at other people's homes. So I browse those. Lights out 12:30-1am. I could probably stay up later, but I'm really trying to have a schedule. Maybe that's from years of working...and then having dogs. Dogs need a schedule.
I used to do ok on 5 hours a night...but I always worried that it wasn't the healthiest way.
I should say...there are times I wish I could do my vacuuming at midnight. That's when I feel motivated...not at 11am. When I should!
I watch the tv I have recorded. Read papers and magazines. I do a lot of crosswords too. Some days I can do 10-12, bed anytime up to 2.30. Usually up by 9.00.
I also have trouble sleeping so I browse the internet and watch tik tok videos and play games it's near 10 am before I get sleep.
Yous? Sorta?Cos? You could read a dictionary to help you sleep. It may also assist in your English.
Try a self help book on politeness David.

Dave. the question was for pasta and barsel
I'm sure there is a book on good manners, David Small. You'd find that useful.
I find myself struggling to sleep some nights. If I don't feel sleepy I get up and make a hot drink, I surf the net, do online shopping, read online articles or play Yahtzee online. I can rarely be bothered to read or watch the TV, but just head for the laptop. Eventually I go back to bed and run through the alphabet thinking of something for each letter from the day's events or activities.
Hi JJ, yes I do what others do really.
Watch TV from about 6pm until midnight usually and get on the computer.
I read emails, come on here, read the papers online, watch YouTube videos all sorts of things.
3am seems to come round pretty quick although I'm off to see a friend tomorrow, so will probably not stay up quite as late tonight.

Question Author
ok - thanks all for your answers - I guess we are all in the same boat - trying as we get a little older, to get some kind of semblance of regularity of sleep pattern.

I am now realising that because I don't automatically fall asleep about 1 or 2 in the morning - I feel "guilty" (don't know what about actually). So that thought probably keeps me awake too.

I am just going to try "not to feel guilty LOL" and try and sleep when it comes.

Probably comes after working in a pattern of working very hard and being awake 7am to 12midnight when working for 40 years and that is probably difficult to shift even after 16 years retired.

David Small - am too tired (even though I can't sleep) to worry about your rude remarks regarding my grammar which I know excels. Perhaps you should look at your own old posts where you were pulled up about your own grammar, excepted and accepted and there are probably many more. But am both tired and sad at losing my American friend tomorrow so I will it there.

^^^I will end it there" - good night to all
Goodnight JJ. I don't feel guilty about not being able to sleep, but I do feel guilty about staying in bed until late in the day.
I do know many of my friends who are also 'seniors' have difficulty with sleep, so we're not alone.
