I have emailed the setter qerying Dark tool and the letter count. Am awaiting a reply.

Setter has got back to me, 20, Dark tool should be 9 letters, not 8

Thanks to all who contributed answers. Always disappointing to find proof reading has missed a wrong number of letters in one of the clues.

Mistakes happen,wm, sometimes you read what you think is there rather than what actually is. Very unusual for this setter to make an error.
