Sultanas or currants ??
Well done Twix x
Evening all, well done Mamya. That embroidery one had me stumped.
Currants are smaller.
Question Author
Morning all - had a quick look at the puzzle & going with currants - well done twix :))
I hope that you're keeping safe Mamya, seeing that Bolton seems to be a hot-spot for the Indian mutation of the virus ?
Question Author
Ok this sounds daft but please explain 35d ...why are pawns not pieces ??
( or should I have stayed in bed ?? )
Thanks Steff. Sultanas are brown I think, from white grapes, unlike the 'squashed flies' in Garibaldi biscuits.

Hope that you are keeping well and not being inundated with rain, although most welcome usually in Australia.
I'm hoping that it's definitely 'currants', as I can't think of many words that pair together with 'sultanas'!

I was one of the first people in the country to be awarded the title of 'Regional Coach' by the British Chess Federation and, as far as I'm concerned, all chessmen are 'pieces'. (The distinction in the clue is entirely new to me!)

Oh, good evening/morning all, BTW ;-)
I always thought that they were called either 'chessmen' or 'pieces'. Now we know that there is a technical difference
Fine thanks Twix, the new variant is rife here and seems to have hit the 20s and 30s age groups but no dramatic rise in admissions.

Hi everyone.
Would saying Queen throw a spanner in the works for Chessman then ?

'Chessquote[persons]' then, Tony ;-)
^^^ That didn't come out as I typed it - but I'm sure that you know what I mean ;-)
Yes, I got what you mean't, Chris.
