I think I must have been around 15-18 months old , I've got two older sisters ( one deceased now and the other one is 89 in June) fit a flea she is,
They were 15-17 years older than I am ,
I remember my cot had been fetch through to the kitchen ( now we call it a living room) I was obviously not well , they came from work and had pooled their money to buy me a little pair of black patent shoes

I was younger than 2 and 1/2 Peter ( I was in a cot)
My first memory, or perhaps memory of a memory, is of an old woman’s face leering at me across a vast expanse of patchwork bedspread in the way people goo-goo at new babies. I think I was a baby, so this must have been in early 1947, as my birthday was in December of 1946. I presume the face belonged to my grandmother, my mother’s mother and I have one other, later, memory of her. Near the top of the stairs was a small landing above which the stairs divided left and right. To the left was a small bedroom and to the right the rest of the upstairs rooms. I seem to recall looking up the staircase and seeing my grandmother being caught on that landing by someone who then coaxed her up to the left, holding her arm to prevent her from falling. I think that she was senile.
My friend's husband swears he remembers being born!
In a high pram. Just a fleeting memory.
