I remember back in the 1950s my mum coming home from work laughing; one of the girls said her new boyfriend was a Textile Technician. He was a weaver.

A chap that came to work at my place of work (a long time ago) asked me for help filling in a government form- income tax or similar. One question was nature of previous employment (he was an ex soldier), so for a giggle we put down killing people. The form was returned, stating this answer was unacceptable, so we put down population control operative, which they accepted! (or at least never sent it back)
