All good, Lady-J.

I've got a chicken in the slow-cooker for later. The smell is wafting up the stairs.
the tortoises are in hibernation and out of my spare room so I can have the central heating on.

Yes, that's been a sticking point for so many, Bobbi. My OH's firm thrived throughout the Covid crisis as they were receiving massive orders as a result of the pandemic and the worldwide response, but the orders are slowing up a bit now.

Let's just hope the economy recovers swiftly when this malarky is behind us.

I can't wait to have central heating - and hot running water!

I would love a tortoise too...
I envy you LadyGC. Since my last op I've not been able to digest meat and so have to just enjoy smells. I can't tolerate alcohol either but I'm very grateful for all the drinks I did enjoy. Not got drunk just enjoyed a drink and chat with family and friends.
I'm always cheerful :-)
It's a bittersweet fir my son in law Lcg, the company he works for as a site manager has won a contract to build a Test and Trace Centre locally

I've got to be honest, Lady-J, I don't really eat much meat these days - I'm more of a fish person. Chicken is handy though as there's lots left over for OH's sandwiches.

I can't help but be amused by LadyCG and LadyJanine's posts.
LadyCG "I would love a tortoise"
LadyJanine "I envy you LadyCG but I've not been able to digest meat...."

Someone call the RSPCA ... !!
LadyCG you don't want a tortoise unless you are prepared to organise your life around it. One of mine is from my childhood and the other is an adoption from somone who could no longer keep her....and once you have one, provided they are both female and the same species, then having another is not really a problem. in the summer I have to keep them fed and make sure the enclosure is secure because they are escape artists. In the autumn they move into my (emptied) spare room and the struggle is to keep them awake and feeding until the temperatures drop far enough for them to hibernate. Once they are in their boxes, then I have to juggle heating to keep their hibernating shed between 4 and 7 deg c so they stay in hibernation....then they wake up early and go back into my spare room until its warm enough for them to go outside again. They need both heat and bright light and my leccy bill shows it! They are members of the family and I will look after them for as long as I can and for after that (they are in my will)...but they are not a pet I would advise!
bhg - when I was in the West Indies i found that a great many people there enjoyed eating turtles so if LadyCG wants to put one in her slowcooker who are to dissuade her.
Glad things are going ok, Lady CG.
I’ve had loads of problems with the house recently but I still have a roof over my head so that’s good. Everyone I love is healthy so, alles gut.
That's good Cloverjo. House will get sorted. Other things are more important.

We're finally getting somewhere, Clo-Jo. I just hope there are no further hold-ups or this will be our third winter without heating and hot water, and I don't think I could bear another.

I don't think I could really eat a turtle...

Woofgang, my ex had a tortoise and it was a lovely little thing. I wouldn't have one with such a young child in the house, but I like the idea...

What a palaver - worse than raising kids :-)
Good grief you have had no hot water for over two years? How on earth do you bathe or shower? Tin bath in front of fire?
