21. Ducks and drakes used to bust the dam (8)
Everyone seems to be struggling with this! I'm thinking of tossing a coin to choose ricochet or bombings.
Has anyone else got a better idea as this is driving me nuts!!!!!!

could even be bouncers, I suppose, as in cricket.
jno, is there a silent letter in bouncers?
The quiz is about words containing silent letters but in "bouncing" they are all pronounced.
Sorry, "bouncers"
Excuse me, message for Danny..... GK today one wrong I'm sure it's 11d Twm sion catti what did you put?
Twm Shon Catti ( all correct today)
don't know if this is a crossword but isn't it cati?
ignore me
Have you changed your mind on this one danny? - I've seen you put ricochet several times to this question.
you're right Ael lots of alternative spellings Twm sion cati would seem to be correct the crossword accepts only twm shon catti grrr
Getting back to the original question - I would put 'Ricochet'.
I would go for ricochet.
Prudie, yes, after looking at the link the bomb bounces rather than ricochets.
When will the answers be known to this quiz - if it all - I've seen so much discussion on some clues, especially this dambuster one that I would love to know?

Thank you all, I'm inclined to go with dannyk13's idea. Normally with these Rainbow quizzes when you get an answer you 'know' it's right or wrong!
it wouldn't surprise me if it was a setter's error and the answer was bouncing bombs ...

Apologies for interrupting your musings ;-(
sorry, I knew nothing of the requirement for a silent letter. I don't think ricochet is the right word though.
